Self-Presentation, creativity, fluent and precise use of language, teamwork - these are all becoming vital skills in today's competitive business world. Yet many people find them difficult to acquire, usually through fear.
Writers and performers, particularly in comedy, use these skills as a matter of course. They know they are not rocket science, just abilities which can be learnt and honed through practice.
Give your team more of an edge by doing one of these workshops. They designed to be one-day, but can be extended or shortened to suit your needs. They are only set up after full discussion of your goals and requirements.
A key feature of the workshops is the lack of jargon. The inspiration and tecniques involved come from the world of creative writing and performance, but they are practical and are there for grasping in everyday use. Phrases like "blue sky thinking", "out of the box" and "I'm a tree!" are strictly banned (unless you actually are a tree)
TEAM BUILDING DAY
GIve your workforce a boost by letting them create a comedy sketch together in your work environment. The funniest team wins! Let them surprise themselves by learning the art of improvisation, where each performer is totally dependent on the rest. The day warms up with games devised to break down barriers and inhibitions, and to communicate more directly.
CREATIVE SOLUTIONS
We've all heard it: lateral thinking brings results. But what does it mean, and how can you do it? And just as important, what impedes it? We will practice associative thinking, and turning a subject on its head through juxtapositions and reversals. Brainstorming and improvisation games will help everyone lose their fears and have a stimulating, adrenaline-filled day as they build their Fantasy Corporation.
STAND UP AND SAY THAT!
Many people are held back by fear of speaking in public. This workshop imparts simple techniques used by actors and standup comics in relaxation, use of body language, and audience connection. A crucial part of the day is learning the use of humour in presentations. A cheerful group atmosphere is created where everyone is encouraged to come out with their best.
What problems does your team face in its approach to work, its day to day culture, its interpersonal skills, or its motivation?
Fear, too much routine, poor communication, office cliques and a host of other unproductive habits are all too easy to drift into. Workshops can be devised after discussion,, using countless games and excercises, to suit your team's unique situation.
For every problem there is a solution, often found through a creative approach, and always made easier with a sense of humour and the use of laughter.
Contact me and we will discuss your way forward.
