WRITE A SKETCH IN A DAY

Saturday July 12th 1100 - 1700hrs. Oxford House, Derbyshire Street, Bethnal Green, London E2 6HG

In the course of one day, you will learn how to brainstorm ideas and turn one of them into a full two minute sketch with characters and dialogue. Oh yes - and make it funny as well. You will come out with a sketch, techniques for creating further flows of comedy ideas and ways to approach the market. This is a hard-working but fun day.

Venue: Oxford House is 5 minutes walk from Bethnal Green Underground Station, one stop from Liverpool Street Station and is easily accessible from the main London rail terminals.

GET STARTED IN COMEDY WRITING

April 22nd for 10 weeks on every Tuesday, 1900-2100 at Richmond Adult College, Parkshot, Richmond Twickenham

An in-depth course in which you will learn all the basic tools of comedy writing: one-liners, quickies and sketches. Discover the structure of a joke and how to build gags into a routine. Create a flow of ideas for sketches, learn the best ways to write dialogue and the crucial business of structure. Find how to create the kind of instantly recognisable and funny characters used in "Little Britain" and "Little Miss Jocelyn".

At the end ofthe course you will have created a portfolio of material and have your work performed in a showcase.

AN INTRODUCTION TO STANDUP COMEDY

April 21 2008  for 10 weeks every Monday 1900hrs - 2100hrs at Richmond Adult College, Parkshot, Richmond, Twickenham

Get to grips with the basics of standup in this hands-on course. You will write and perform your 5 minute routine, discover techniques to raise your confidence and to build your stage persona.

You will be in a supportive but hardworking group. There will be a showcase for your work at the end of the course.

Build your first 5 minute act. Find your comedy persona, and discover subject matter unique to your own experience. Create a routine of consistently funny material, learn stage craft, and confidence-building techniques. Work in a lively but supportive group.

CREATE YOUR OWN SKETCH SHOW 

Work within the group to write and perform your own sketch material. Brainstorm ideas, write jokes, structure your sketches, create and perform funny characters, and put everything together in your own original sketch show.
